Palestinian Women Entrepreneurs Show their Products and Designs in Microenterprise Bazaar

On November 18-19, the American Consulate General will host its Sixth Annual Women’s Microenterprise Bazaar at Ambassador Hotel in Sheikh Jarrah, Jerusalem. The Bazaar will bring together women artists, merchants, designers, and manufacturers of goods that include traditional Palestinian embroidery, hand-made soap, jewelry, foodstuffs, ceramics, candles, and more.

The Microenterprise Bazaar is an important part of the American Consulate General’s public diplomacy priorities that advance U.S.-Palestinian friendship through expanded entrepreneurship and small business development opportunities supporting the economic empowerment of Palestinian women. Under the Consulate General’s sponsorship, the women entrepreneurs received training in marketing, product development, and customer relations.

Palestinian women entrepreneurs from Jerusalem, the West Bank and Gaza have been invited to showcase their handicrafts.

“The Consulate General is deeply committed to enriching the lives of Palestinian women particularly those in rural communities,” said Consul for Press and Cultural Affairs Richard Buangan, noting that this Consulate’s support is provided “through introduction of training and tools from the United States that not only make them productive members of Palestinian society, but contributors to the growth of the Palestinian economy.”

Hours of the Micro-Enterprise Bazaar are 10:00-7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 18 and 10:00-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, November 19.
