U.S. Consulate General Brings Gospel Music to Jerusalem and the West Bank

The Jones Family gospel group is touring Jerusalem and the West Bank this week to share American gospel music with the Palestinian public – a trip made possible by the U.S. State Department’s Arts Envoy program and the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem.  The Jones Family Singers, consisting in part of five sisters, two brothers and their father, have been touring churches and festivals around the world for almost three decades and are now bringing this unique music tradition to Palestinian cities.

The Jones Family Singers will perform at the following East Jerusalem locations as part of as part of Nablus Road Open Days that are free and open to the public.

  • Etienne Convent (Dominican) on Thursday, May 5 at 5:30 PM
  • George Cathedral on Friday, May 6 at 7:00 PM
  • America House Jerusalem on Saturday, May 7 at 5:00 PM

 

In addition to the Nablus Road Open Days concerts, the family will perform in Al Tireh Women’s College in Ramallah, Saint Catherine’s Church and Talitha Kumi School in Bethlehem, An Najah University in Nablus, and at Youth Development Resource Center in Hebron. The group will host workshops and jam sessions with students in the Old City of Jerusalem, at the King David YMCA, and at Al Quds University in Abu Dis.
