Jerusalem – U.S. education expert Dr. Richard Hopper is visiting the West Bank from June 6 – June 15 to conduct workshops with the Palestinian Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission (AQAC) and West Bank university partners. The workshops focus on creating an accreditation and quality assurance system to ensure that Palestinian universities provide a level of instruction that meets international standards.
This accreditation system aims to improve the overall quality of Palestinian higher education and allow Palestinian students to pursue advanced degrees abroad more easily.
Dr. Hopper’s visit recognizes the importance of quality assurance as a tool to promote excellence in higher education and is part of a joint action plan between the Ministry of Education and Higher Education and U.S. Consulate General Jerusalem.
This visit follows the first-ever U.S.-Palestinian Higher Education Dialogue held in October 2016, which included Minister of Education and Higher Education Dr. Sabri Saidam, Consul General Donald Blome, Palestinian university presidents, and U.S. university partners to discuss a range of subjects, including partnerships between higher education and the private sector, research and development, teaching critical thinking and problem-solving skills, and quality assurance and accreditation.
