America House Jerusalem, established in June 2010, is the U.S. Consulate General’s cultural center in East Jerusalem. The mission of America House is to encourage dialogue between Americans and Jerusalemites in order to foster mutual understanding and emphasize shared values. America House is a place where residents of Jerusalem can learn about U.S. history, culture, and society through a wide selection of books, English language learning material and American magazines. It also serves as a place where Palestinians can come together and take advantage of the many resources we offer, including our library, theater, wifi connection and computers. Throughout the year, America House offers a wide variety of programs and presentations relevant to U.S. society and culture, hosts regular film screenings, provides English language classes, and works with local organizations to benefit the local community.
Salametcom volunteers provide food, clothes, and a wide range of other services to Palestinians who require long stays in Israeli hospitals. For more information on the organization, please visit their website athttp://www.slametkom.org/.
