As members of the Jewish faith gather in their homes and synagogues throughout the Holy City of Jerusalem to begin the High Holidays, I want to extend my warmest wishes on behalf of my family and my colleagues at the U.S. Consulate General in Jerusalem. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur not only mark important days on the Jewish calendar, they are an opportunity for reflection, renewal, and reconciliation.
At the dawn of this New Year, let us rededicate ourselves to the work ahead – to the work of fighting prejudice, intolerance, and indifference, and to achieving lasting peace, not just here in Jerusalem but elsewhere in the region. We join together with you in hope and prayer for a year of peace, prosperity, and goodwill.
L’Shanah Tovah Tikatevu ve-Tehatemu.
